My own sneaker obsession

New Shop, New Blog + Custom Kicks

Dear friends,

Welcome and I’m happy to see you here :). I’ve spent a lot of time this summer working on new artworks for the website, and thinking about where toย  take all of this. I’ve been creating visual artworks for sometime now as a way to express myself, share my humour and reflect on the world around me. It’s over the past few months that I have decided to spend more time creating, writing, sharing and even selling! So, I’m happy to say that I’m starting this blog as a way to share and reflect on what I have going on, with you, my dear friendly friends. Firstly, I want to announce the launch of my shop! Here, you will find limited edition prints and postcards, with specially designed shirts coming soon. Check them out here. Also, share with your friends, please and thank you :). And if there’s something missing from the shop that you’d like, email me at jda@jdajda.co.uk to share your idea!

Also, I want to let you know about my newest artworks I have been creating called Custom Kicks. It all started when I was questioning myself about my insatiable urge and want I have for new sneakers. I see them and I want them baaaaadly, online adverts know this,ย  and wow cool, check it out I can customise them online. So that’s where it started, falling down a deep hole of sneaker customisation online and thinking more and more about how not only is there the aesthetic appeal, and value add to self that is gives me (scary), I fantasize about these nice new shoes and feel the pleasure of it all running deep down to my bones. So what if I could customise above and beyond, mess it up, do what isn’t intended, maybe even ruin them and try to set myself free.

In reading Rick Ruben’s Creative Act, he talks about embracing your child’s mind to let go and create. This wasn’t easy, and I spent several hours trying to get started with each piece, pulling from any and all materials around me, filling areas and spots with dots, scribbles, dashes and strokes, eventually my hands began to lead and my mind sat in a sort of meditation with it all. On the Custom Kicks page, you’ll see I added a PDF download so that anyone and everyone can create their own too. I really encourage you to just go wild with it and be free of any expectations you have when it comes to creating. I will add a few of these to my shop too, but for the most part hope you can have fun viewing them and maybe make your own!

Thanks for reading my first blog post, I hope to share more with you soon.
