Floating Nazar is a digital artwork in the form of a game. At first glance, it seems straightforward: grab the circles to complete the nazar. But completion is always just out of reach.

I wanted to explore and share my own felt frustrations, the gaps, familiarity, distance, and closeness I experience with my Turkish heritage. The nazar is a powerful Turkish symbol of protection. I love the nazar, it connects me to a culture where I sometimes feel I belong and other times feel I don’t belong.

Through Floating Nazar, I’m inviting you to play with the tensions of identity, the desire for coherence within, and the feeling that parts of who we are might always shift and never quite line up.
